About the Program:
Computer Coding & Programming I
CREDIT: 3.0
2 semesters – 3 periods – (AM Only)
Grades Eligible: 11, 12, Adult
Prerequisites: Computer Basics (Computer Apps or Keyboarding) and Algebra I or equivalent.
This course introduces students to coding and Computer Science fundamentals. Students will use an integrated development environment to solve coding and programming problems to develop and publish websites and web apps. Students will learn the power of text-based programming as they are introduced to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, Bash Scripting, and version control with Git and GitHub to develop skills in front-end web development and design. First-year students will also get the opportunity to compete in SkillsUSA, a nationwide competition.
Computer Coding & Programming II
CREDIT: 3.0
2 semesters – 3 periods – (PM Only)
Grades Eligible: 11, 12, Adult
This course is a continuation of Computer Coding & Programming I. Students will learn the fundamentals of computer programming through the C# and Python programming languages and database management. Additionally, students will get exposure to project management and working in a professional team-based environment to prepare for career readiness in the Computer Science field. Students will also get the opportunity to compete in SkillsUSA.
