Business Technology I
2 semesters – 3 periods (AM only)
Grades Eligible:  11, 12, Adult

This program is designed to give students intending to enter the business world and/or hospitality industry the opportunity to learn and strengthen skills necessary for day-to-day business operations. The class activities concentrate on written/oral communication, advanced word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and electronic communications. Students will also be introduced to desktop publishing, web page design, accounting, management skills, small business ownership, the hospitality industry, and job seeking techniques. Business Technology I is recommended for all students who plan to major in business or hospitality, computers, or technology in a college, technical school, or who have made the decision to enter the world of work right after high school.

Business Technology II
2 semesters – 3 periods (AM only)
Grades Eligible:  12, Adult
Prerequisites:  Business Technology I and instructor approval

Second year students get the opportunity to expand computer usage skills for the business world. Students will spend the first semester integrating computer programs, designing computer presentations, improving communication management, gaining vital knowledge and skills in the hospitality industry, and professionalism. Second semester students will have the opportunity to choose different areas of business or hospitality including on-the-job training. This allows students to gain entry-level skills in a particular area..

Supervised Business Experience (SBE)

Grades Eligible:  11 (second semester), 12
Prerequisites:  Must be enrolled in either in Business Tech I or Business Tech II

This is a cooperative program with business or industry which provides paid, on-the-job experience in the business field.  Students are selected through an application process. Business Technology I or Business Technology II  must be taken in conjunction with the work experience.

How to Apply:
  • High School Students: Contact your school's guidance counselor.   Prerequisites may apply.
  • Adult Students: 
    • Schedule to take WorkKeys with the CTC assessment office
    • Complete an application & make deposit ($100)
    • Provide proof of HS graduation (or GED)
    • Submit background check form

  • Classes Schedule: Monday - Friday
    • August - May (Following the Cape Girardeau Public Schools Calendar).
      • Typical Morning block schedule is 8:25 - 10:50
      • Typical Afternoon block schedule is 12:15 - 2:40
